This holiday weekend I met up with a gorgeous mommy to be and her beautiful family in Davis. The weather was perfect–finally cooling down from the 100+ streak we’ve had and the lighting was spectacular. I had so much fun getting to know them and can’t wait to meet their new little girl in August. She’s so lucky to be part of this loving family and to have such a great big sister who will no doubt be a huge help.
I just loved this bridge and had to get an image of the three of them on it. Turns out it must be a creative eye thing because my close friend and fellow photographer actually captured virtually the same image during a session she did at the arboretum that same day. I absolutely love all the green, the flowers, and the rustic feel of the bridge. Great scenery!
This next image is one of my new favorites (I know I say that every session, but my clients are just so beautiful!). I love the blue background and the ground cover at their feet. And it was no small feat to get this image! We had to dodge a nesting mother duck and avoid her getting too upset with us (Dad, thanks for being such a good sport!) But it was well worth it to capture this image of Mom and Dad.
When clients ask what they should wear to a session I always tell them how much I love photographing color. I really like when their outfits just pop and compliment one another. This next image is a perfect example of that. Mom’s gorgeous orange dress has just a hint of color that’s pulled out into Dad’s shirt. I love how they match, but don’t have to be wearing the same thing to coordinate.
And just because Mom is so beautiful, I had to include some of just her (and baby of course!)
Mom and Dad–thank you so much for meeting me on Sunday and allowing me the opportunity to photograph this amazing time in your lives. I can’t wait to meet your new little girl in August! Your full gallery will be up within the week. In the meantime, enjoy your sneak peek!

This holiday weekend I had the opportunity to photograph this precious new little guy and his beautiful brothers and sister. I love seeing the interactions between siblings and it was so amazing to witness how much love these kids have for their newest baby brother. And what a sweet baby he was–he slept so well for us and we were able to capture some great images of him. I just love this first one in the cocoon. He was so snuggly and peaceful that we almost didn’t want to take him out of it!
And I just adore the pouty lips in this next image.
Mom really wanted to get one of all four of her kids and their feet. I just loved the idea–I love the difference between baby brother’s tiny new feet and those of each of his siblings. It really depicts the growth that occurs in just a few short years.
And I couldn’t leave this one out. Little Mr. {A} had the most outgoing personality and was so much fun to photograph.
Mom and Dad–thank you so much for welcoming me into your home and giving me the opportunity to capture these first images of your new addition. You have a beautiful family–I’ll have your online gallery up within the week with many more images from our morning together.
I braved yet another 105 degree scorcher last Sunday evening to photograph a beautiful (and fun) family. I still can’t get over how well behaved these three boys are–and what amazing smiles they all have! When they each flash that grin, their entire face lights up with personality. I love being able to capture that–to get images that really show who they are. Despite the heat, they hung in there the whole time. Maybe because Dad kept promising frozen yogurt for dessert, but I think the real reason was that they knew all Mom wanted for her birthday was a family photograph with her boys. Mom, I hope you’re pleased. Your boys did a great job creating some lasting photographs for you to enjoy for many years to come!
Seriously–what a gorgeous family!
More of those handsome boys.
I was so glad that Mom and Dad wanted some images of just the two of them. What a stunning pair!
{B} family–I had a great time with you this weekend. I hope you love your pictures–many more to come in your online gallery within the week!
