what’s in a name | sacramento newborn photographer

“What’s in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet.”

Sweet little Juliette–though she may spell it differently, she is every bit as worthy of the beautiful prose written of Shakespeare’s Juliet.

I had literally just clicked send on an email I wrote her mama with wardrobe ideas for her maternity session the next day when I received her email saying they were in the hospital about to welcome their precious new baby girl into the world. That’s what I love about brand new babies–they all have their own timing.

And whether they’re early or late, their timing is always perfect.

Every time I have a session with her I sing “Brown Eyed Girl” in my head.

Those eyes. Those eyelashes.

Just captivating.

Summertime.

Growing up I remembered long summer days. And warm summer nights. Everything seemed to slow down. We would stay in our pajamas until noon (or sleep until noon).

But I remembered a slower pace of life.

Now that I’m an adult I’ve come to realize that it must only be that way for kids. Adults still have to work, still have to find activities to keep those kids busy during the “long” summer days, still have to do laundry, cook dinner, and do “life”. But for a moment, we can still slow down. Still breath in the warm summer air and stare into the face of a brand new baby and pause for a moment. I know that’s what this beautiful gal’s mama is doing right now.

And that’s exactly what she’s meant to do. Just that.
