it’s the most wonderful time of the year | folsom family photographer

So I know it might seem a bit early in the holiday season to be singing Christmas carols, but these are honestly the words that keep going through mind every time I get in the car to head to a photography session. “It’s the most wonderful time of the year” for so many reasons, but mostly because I get to see so many of my favorite families for their annual fall photos. It’s like  reconnecting with old friends–it feels comfortable, it’s relaxed, it’s an all around good time.

That’s how last weekend was with the {E} family. I love that when I got there Mom mentioned that she already had my diet soda chilling in the refrigerator. Their property is absolutely gorgeous and I think if I lived there my camera would be permanently around my neck. The golden light, the beautiful landscaping, their adorable kiddos–all the makings of a great session.

{E} family–I have so many more great ones from our session together. I’ll have your finished gallery ready soon!

I had a great time last Sunday photographing this beautiful family. Each one of the kids was so much fun to be around and so great in front of the camera–their personalities really seemed to shine through in each image. I’m a bit late getting this sneak peek out, but I wanted to be sure they had some beautiful pictures up online before the weekend.

And stay posted for more news of my studio opening coming soon! I’ve been a busy bee lately ordering canvases, prints, building furniture (okay–that’s been Brad’s job) and decorating. I can’t wait to open the doors to “The Portrait Boutique”!

Not much will get me out of bed at 6:30 am. I am so lucky that both of my kids sleep in, because I tend to be quite a night owl and not much of a morning person. But I nearly jumped out of bed the morning of this shoot because I was so excited to photograph this beautiful family. Corinne is an old high school friend of mine and we reconnected through Facebook (don’t you just love Facebook for that?) this past year. Everything about this session was so much fun–the only thing I’m upset about is the fact that they live so far away because I know that {A} and my Jacob would be best buddies. Seriously, their personalities are so similar–it was like spending the morning with my own little guy. He was such a crack up!

And seriously–what a gorgeous family!

catching up | folsom family photographer

So I’ve discovered the result to burning the candle at both ends (and it’s not pretty, let me tell you). Picture a very congested, cranky, and sneezy Megan and you’ve got an idea of what my week has looked like. After I finished up photographing this adorable family I went home only to head to bed early with a stuffy nose and cough. Luckily I didn’t have any other sessions scheduled until last night, but the much needed rest and early bedtime has put me behind in my sneak-peeking, editing, and ordering. So I got out my trusty to-do list and have created a very thorough, detailed plan to get everything finished up in a quite timely matter if I do say so myself.

And at the top of that list was getting the “sneak peek” together for the {T} family. My favorite part about this session was how snuggly they all are. You really can just see the love they have for one another–it comes through so clearly in all of the images I took. I always have to remind my clients to scoot closer together–that it might feel awkward but I promise it looks better in pictures than to have one foot gaps in between each person. But I didn’t have to tell the {T} family that once. I just love the closeness they share and think these images reflect that perfectly.

May has turned into quite a busy month for me with three (or more) shoots per week. So in an attempt to not get too behind on my editing, ordering, and packaging, I’ll make this short and sweet and let these beautiful pictures speak for themselves. I love this family and think these images show how much fun they are!
