when the stars align | sacramento children’s photographer

I just knew when every little piece came together that this session would be awesome. Stomach bugs and May showers tried to keep this from taking place, but nothing could change what was meant to be. The local mosquitoes even tried to run us out but nothing would stop this little guy from having fun or me from photographing him. And I must say–when all the stars aligned–the perfect afternoon!

I had so much fun getting to know {T} this past Thursday. He is obviously such a cutie, but he’s got the personality to boot! Everyone says that toddlers are difficult to photograph but that was just not so with this session. {T} made it so easy for me to capture him as he explored, play peek-a-boo, and tried to learn to ride a skateboard.web11web24

inspiring | sacramento photographer

I usually don’t make it a habit to cry during my photography sessions. It’s just not professional, the mascara running down my face isn’t pretty, and the tears fog up my viewfinder. But this past Saturday was an exception to that rule. I have never been so inspired by a client of mine as I was of my friend {S} who competed in her first half marathon. As I was waiting for her to cross the finish line, I could feel the anticipation rising with each runner as they passed. When I saw her coming toward the line and heard her name announced I lost it. Her physical and emotional transformation over the past three years all came to my mind as I watched her take those final strides toward her goal. She made it.

This next image sums up all of her training, hard work, and endless determination. I absolutely love this photograph.web1{S’s} best friend and training partner ran the half marathon with her. What an amazing accomplishment to experience together.web23When they said that they were going to retire their shoes I knew I had to document them. These shoes have taken them so far–just think of all the many miles they’ve traveled and the paths they’ve tread.

web3And what would a blog post be without an adorable child! {S’s} little girl was so proud of her mommy and had this beautiful bouquet of flowers to present her. web5{S}, I am so proud of you and all that you have accomplished. Thank you so much for inviting me to share this amazing experience with you. And who knew that photographing in the rain could be so wonderful! I hope you enjoy your sneak peek–many more images to come in your online gallery later this week!
