It’s that time of year and I feel like I can barely keep my head above water. I have several sessions (including some pictures of my own kids! You forgot I even had kids, didn’t you? It’s time they deserve some blog love…but they’ll have to wait for now) to post as I’m in the middle of getting caught up on everything. Catching up on packaging all of my orders to send out in time for the holidays, catching up on editing these gorgeous family sessions I’ve had the honor of photographing recently, catching up on extra snuggles with my kids since Jacob’s on break from preschool this week, catching up on (re-)reading New Moon, and catching up on my sleep.
Yep. I was one of those crazies that waited in line for hours to catch the first showing of “that vampire / werewolf” movie. The 12:04 am showing last Thursday to be exact. Myself and six of my other girlfriends braved the sea of sixteen year olds to watch New Moon and I must say, it didn’t disappoint. The only problem is that I am a mom and my kids didn’t get the memo that I didn’t go to bed that night until 4:00 am. Two hours of sleep just doesn’t cut it. So I’ve been trying to catch up on my sleep over these last few days and I still feel like a zombie. Twenty-eight years old feels much older than it sounds right now. What happened to the days of all-nighters? I guess I am an actual grown up now.
In the middle of all my catching up I was able to meet up with the {B} family in Old Roseville for an awesome urban session. I loved everything about this session. The family was so relaxed, up for anything, and just plain beautiful. They even humored me and my bubble gum idea (which we found out that you need to chew gum for a really, really long time in order to blow a successful bubble). I have so many great images for their gallery, but I’ll show just a few for the sneak peek.
Little {R} was so adorable. LOVE the pink nails.
Actually–the whole family was beautiful. See what I mean?
Dad seemed to get the hang of the bubbles the fastest and I couldn’t resist putting these candid images in. Love the interactions.
And just because I love brother’s expression I had to finish with this family image.
{B} family–thank you for choosing me to photograph your family portraits. I had a great time at our session and will have many, many more family images for your gallery soon! I hope you enjoy your sneak peek in the meantime!

After a short studio session we headed to a nearby park to capture some family images for the holiday card. The light was fantastic and I just love how coordinated they all were–little {L’s} dress is a perfect example of using one outfit to pull the other colors from. Great choice!
I love when I can capture an interaction and not just a pose.
{R} family, thank you so much for choosing me to photograph this first year of {L’s} life. I’ll be in touch when the rest of your images are ready!

Mom had a beautiful monogrammed blanket that we had to get in some of our images.
Mom and Dad–thank you so much for welcoming me into your home to photograph your new little one. I had a great time and hope you love your sneak peek of {M’s} first photography session. She did great! I’ll be in touch when you full gallery is ready!

And because I can’t resist this last image, here’s one more that I think totally captures magic of experiencing Christmas as a child.
Thank you all for our mini sessions. I had a great time. They were fast, dynamic, and so much fun! I’ll let you all know when your galleries are ready and we’ll get those cards ordered in time for the holidays. In the meantime…enjoy!
She definitely wanted to stay awake and join in on our fun, but we were able to get some great shots during the sleepy moments that she did have. I just love this next one–she totally posed her little feet all on her own.
{B} family–thank you so much for choosing me to photograph this amazing time in your life. I always have such a great time with you (and the Pumpkin Spice Frappuccino was an added bonus!) Looking forward to our family session in a few weeks!
