I know her mom is anxious for her sneak peek, so I don’t want to keep her waiting any longer. And I really just couldn’t wait to get this little darling up on the blog. We first met up at a park, but once I saw her outfit I knew we needed to make the short drive over to the capitol for the rest of her shoot. I just love how her hair flower and beautiful cream colored dress look against the checkerboard pattern of the capitol entrance. She looks like a little vintage beauty.

When this little gal showed up for her one year portrait session I got so excited because I knew that I had the perfect backdrop and chair to match her adorable spring outfit. And I love that Mom also brought along her older sister’s dress that she wore when she was {A’s} age. What a special way to document her big day!
Mom–I had a great time with you and your beautiful family today! I hope you love your sneak peek!
I’m sure that Mom would agree that this little cutie was worth the wait. When I contacted her to touch base regarding our upcoming newborn session, she mentioned that she was still pregnant–that {C} was just too cozy and wasn’t quite ready to make his debut. When I arrived for the photoshoot {C} was a wide eyed, alert ten day old boy. But after an hour of my warm space heater, sound machine, and a few snacks, he eventually gave in. And once again, he proved that it was definitely worth the wait! Nothing could wake this little guy from his slumber and I’m so glad. He gave us some great poses and adorable sleepy smiles.

Alright. I’m going to admit something, but you can’t tell anyone, okay?
I get nervous.
Whew. I feel much better now that that’s out there.
But seriously, I do. I get nervous. I still get nervous before every photography session.
But I look at that as a good sign. I get nervous because I know how important the images I’m about to take are. They will represent one second in time that can never be duplicated. They will hang on someone’s wall. They will become works of art.
And for today’s session I was a bit more nervous than usual. When Mom contacted me to take pictures of her six week old little guy we knew {C} was on the older side for newborn images. We talked over the details, knowing that we would have to work hard to get those sleepy, snuggly images. Well, turns out we hardly had to work at all. {C} was the perfect little model. He was still and alert and made great eye contact for all of his awake images. And usually for newborns we need to feed, snuggle, burp (and then feed some more) to lull them into dreamland. Not so for {C}. He fell alseep all on his own in my green bucket of all places! It was truly hysterical–we placed him in the bucket and then watched as his eyelids got heavier and heavier until he was out like a light.
So once again my nerves were for nothing since {C} was a champ and our session was awesome. Here are a few of my favorites.

It’s hard to believe that just a few weeks ago this little babe was in here. And now she’s actually here and couldn’t be any cuter if you ask me. {S} was 15 days old when I photographed her (which is on the older side for newborn photography) but she was a sleepy little beauty and slept better than some of my six day olds! And don’t you just adore her little ruffle romper? While I usually photograph newborns in their bare skin, I have fallen in love with this little outfit and know I’ll be buying it in more colors for my newborn girls. For my fellow photographers out there, I got this from a friend of mine who has a local boutique and an online Etsy shop. She specializes in “all things cute” and I definitely agree! I get all my pettiskirts and bloomers from her, too. Check out her Chic Baby Rose shop–I know you’ll be drooling over all of the frilly goodness.
And in the meantime, go ahead and drool over all the precious sleepy baby goodness here.
